The long and varied experience of his career has established him as a skilled administrator, manager, honest and committed ‘professional’. Jagadish Chandra Sana’s areas of expertise include overall management of the organization, high quality administration and management, institutional development in innovative and creative disciplines, timely and accurate planning, result based training, monitoring of appropriate activities, research, editing, publishing etc. ‘faithfulness’, ‘honesty’ and ‘generosity’ are special features of his career.
The practice of writing in newspapers was from school life. He joined journalism as the sub-editor in the Daily ” SANGBAD” in the year 1992 and worked there some months. Later on, for three years, he worked as an editor of a political weekly, ‘JAHA SATYA TAHA BALIBO’, which was edited and published by a prominent educationist of the country, Gazi Abdus Salam. Jagadish had the important responsibility of editing and managing it. Out of his total experience of 30 years, he spent three and a half years doing direct journalism. He has spent 6 years in journalistic training and media research institutes in various innovative works and experience in journalism and media affairs. The remaining 17 years have been spent as Manager / Director of the development organizations.
Early in his career, he was a trainee for a few months (1996) as a young writer in the Bangla Academy. He then took over the responsibility of the office of Patuakhali (Media-Center Chief) of Mass-Line Media Center (MMC), one of the country’s private sector media organizations (1996). He returned to the headquarter of the MMC in Dhaka just after one year. After coming to Dhaka, for a long period of six years (1997-2003), he served as MMC’s “Media Monitoring Officer” and “Publication Officer”. He is a ‘Pioneer’ of this organization. Under his direct supervision, the ‘full-unit offset printing press’ was established under Dhaka office of the MMC. Circulation registration of “METHOBARTA” from Patuakhali and “LOKE SANGBAD” from Noakhali was completed, and this fortnightly model started the first modern grassroots journalism of thecountry and in a short time, the field of human rights and development journalism in the field of journalism was also developed. This trend is still expanding in electronic media, including national and local magazines.
While in the MMC (2001), he also took on the responsibility of editing and publishing a human rights journal called “PRANTAJAN – The Marginalised” (as associate editor). At that time, journalists, editors, academics and human rights figures recognized the journal as one of the country’s best publication.
He has been working as the “Project Manager” / “Program Director” of various non-governmental organizations, supported by several international aid agencies, from 2000 to the present (2020). He is the employee of different foreign donor supported projects like Danida, European Union, DFID, UNDP, UNICEF, Save the Children, Care Bangladesh, Comic Relief, Community Fund, ILO, NORAD, Terre-des Holmes-Netherlands, Plan International, Bread for the World, MISEREOR etc. He has had the opportunity to work as a successful implementer of various development projects run through indirect financing and gained extensive experience in the country’s development arena. While working in these positions, he has managed a maximum of 100 staff members of each of the last two projects out of 10 projects he conducted.
He also has experience in university-centered academic fields. He has successfully served as an Intern Guide for more than 100 students of Honors and Masters of Dhaka University’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Lalmatia Women’s College and Tejgaon College’s Social Welfare Discipline including several private universities, from 1999 to 2017 years.
The being of his job is 5 years,the institutions include Mass-Line Media Center (MMC). Bangladesh Child Rights Forum (BSAF), Newham Bengali Community Trust (NBCT-UK based international organization), Society for Underprivileged Families (SAF) etc. He has been working as a Senior Consultant (freelance) to prepare project proposals for various organizations, to connect with donor organizations and to get funding for development of organizations. His long experience and innovative strategies include establishing institutions, fund management, financial management, budget formulation and implementation, ensuring fair and balanced administration, results-based activities and monitoring, participatory project evaluation, learning assessment, project cycle management, etc. The strength of the organization’s path to continued prosperity and progress.
Jagdish Chandra Sana, who is fluent in listening, understanding, speaking, writing and presenting in both English and Bengali, is also accomplished in any text editing of both languages as well as his skills in translation. He is also very capable of using all the modern media and software technologies such as computer, touchphone, e-mail, website, face book, twitter andYouTube. He is purely a culture-minded man. Poetry, recitation, story writing, novel writing, singing and listening are the part of his leisure time. He is also a positive and constructive critic of education, literature, culture, journalism and any creative development activities. There are many articles on these subjects in various publications and journals.
In his career of more than 30 years, he has received 25 working days training on 452 subjects (1986 – 2020). All these trainings are organized by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the British Council, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), NETZ International, and government and non-government organizations. The trainings include Training of Trainers (TOT), Exercising Right to Information (RTI), Use of Management of Information System (MIS) in Organizational Development, Human Rights and Good Governance, Gender and Development, Conflict and Peace, CRC (Convention on the Rights of the Child.), Logical Frame Appraisal-LFA, Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting (MER), Business English-Reporting Writing Course, Gender & Human Rights, Script writing for Film making, Project Cycle Management, Writing Project Proposal, Orientation on Psychosocial Care and Support, Environment and Climate Change : The Legal Perspectives, Advocacy: Concept, Techniques and Tools, Financial Management for non-finance staff etc.
He has conducted more than 600 days of training in at least 30 institutes in various issues including newspapers, journalism, media, human rights and education in 30 years long career. Among these, the training of journalists and editors of national and local newspapers is also numerous. At least eight more meetings of various government ministries, American embassies and various charities organized by Bangladesh government were invited at national and international seminars (held in Bangladesh). He has presented the keynotepapers at least ten seminars, both public and private.
He has the experience to edit and publish the national and regional Bangla and English journals for more than 20 years. The number of books and reports he has edited, written and published in Bangla Academy Book Fair are 7 (2 joint) in number from 1996-2004.These include “Grassroots Journalism: Concept and Techniques”. This book in the academic category is also read in the communication and journalism departments of the public and private universities of the country and several editions have already been published. The book is also the most widely read book by the country’s media people. Besides, the books like ” Civic Journalism”, “Coastal Workers and Labor Exploitation”, “Our Environment Our lives”, “Observation of Union Council Elections 1987” – report (English) are also praised in contemporary period. He has also worked on creating and publishing two “training modules” for grassroots journalists and national journalists. He is successful in formulating international project “Project Proposals”. In the last 30 years, he has written at least 2000″Project Proposals” and “Express of Interest” on various topics.
His poetic and literature also has its own world. In the “Literature and Culture Competition” of Jagannath Residential Hall of Dhaka University, he won the ‘First Prize’ with his achievements in ‘ Self written Poem’ (1987). It is worth mentioning that while evaluating the poem “Bhumika – The Role” for which he received the award, the poet (Jagdish Chandra Sana) was praised by the examinerpoet of the country (Shamsur Rahman), one of the country’s most respected poets. Jagadishpublished a poetry book titled ” AMI KAN PETER ROI”. On the way to publication there are ” SONALI AUNDHOKAR – Golden Darkness”, ” SWONDHAR SHESH PAKHI – The last bird of the evening” ” SWPNOBAZ – The Dreamer” and “KANDE BRIKHO AUTI SUKHO DUKHO BUKE NIEYE – Weeping tree with very sad sorrow”, and his own Memorial Tale, “PATHER KOTHA”- the State of life way.”
In addition to this, he has successfully completed at least 200 news, journalistic and media books, journals, dissertations, seminar- keynote and other creative publications, consulting, editing, content designing, publishing, covering, page making, publishing management. During his tenure, he published various organizations publications on ‘rights and development issues’ titledMASSLINE BULLETIN, “METHOBARTA”, “LOKE SANGBAD”, “SHISHU ADHIKAR-CHILD RIGHTS”, “AGAMI-UPCOMING”, “ADHIKAR BARTA – RIGHTS MESSAGE”. He has been responsible for the editing, publishing and managing of newsletters, etc. (1997-2006). While working at a media, he has covered many “interviews” at various times. Notable among them is the former Vice Chancellor Professor of Dhaka University. D. AAMS Arefin Siddiqui, Kolkata’s popular film hero “Ranjit Mallik” (Interview was published in several newspapers in the country including “Daily New Nation”, “SaptahikAjkerKagoj,” in Bengali and English versions), Mr. Reazul Haque, former chairman of the Human Rights Commission. Shahriar Kabir, the president of the committee to eliminate the GATHOK DALAL NIRMUL COMMITTEE. He also covered the interview of Feni’s political leader JoynalHazari.
Jagadish also had a walk in the electronics media. He also served as the “Assistant Director” of the film for two years at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC)(1987-1988). He has the experience in writing film stories, dialogues and screenplays. Periodically, he coordinated, planned and managed the content of the television episode “SWAPNIL AAGAMI”, which was aired on “BTV” and later “Channel I”. At Channel I, he organized and coordinated at least 10 ‘talk shows’ (2006-2007). He spoke as a talkative (forthcoming) talk on child rights talk, which aired on BTV (2004). He has also starred in a TV drama titled ‘BHORER SWPNO-Dawn of Dreams’, which aired on a private channel (2004-2005).
Jagadish Chandra Sanarwas born on May 15, 1967, at Laskar village in the Paikgachaupazila adjacent to the Sundarban in south Khulna. He is the fourth of five sons and one daughter of small tradesman father Ashutosh Kumar Sana and housewife mother Banamala Sana.
